Nacht am Menhir

The community of the village gathered at their standing stone, celebrating and mourning all at once the passing of the seasons. Some come in silence, some bring along a little of their harvest for sacrifice. Whispering mothers explain their children the meaning of the various acts performed in front of their holy place. The standing stone is their guardian of time, the skull of the aurochs their connection with the gods of the fields, the forest and the sky. The eldest among them, their druid, stands and looks gravely into the fire, dwelling in his mind upon the hardships his people had to endure over the past year. It was a good year, but their losses are a bitter reminder of the ever changing world.
